He earns the name of encounter specialist by killing 51 gangsters in various shoot outs. Once he saves the Chief Minister from assassination attempt and attacks a mafia don called Ranavir (Milind Soman). However, in the shoot out the brother of Ranvir dies. To avenge his death, Ranavir kills the entire in-laws family and Satya’s pregnant wife. Later, the terrorists blast a car bomb and several persons die in the incident. Dr Ansari (Atul Kulkarni) who conducts post-mortem finds that three among the victims were not killed in the bomb blast but were murdered earlier. He also finds from a freelance journalist that the three were his friends who freelance like him but were killed by the home minister (Sayaji Shinde). In order to prevent ruckus over the death of journalists, he took the help of mafia dumped the bodies of the victims and blasted the car. But the video recorded by them and the file prepared by them with the scams in which the home minister was involved was with him. Dr Ansari gives him the correct post-mortem report to the reporter but could not find any report in his newspaper the next day. Surprisingly he finds the reporter with his throat slit. However, he realizes that he utters some words. Learning that the reporter told the details about the file to Dr Ansari, the home minister tells Ranavir to kill Dr Ansari. Before that, the police brand Dr Ansari as a terrorist and takes him into custody in Vizag. When he was being brought to Hyderabad for investigation, all the police get killed by Ranavir gang. At the instance of Ranvir, the home minister entrusts the job of bringing Dr Ansari to Hyderabad would be given to Satya, as Ranvir plans two birds at one shot. Satya plans meticulously and tries to bring Dr Ansari to Hyderabad but Ranvir comes to know about his movements. However, Dr Ansari reveals the truth that it was the home minister behind all this and he is not a traitor but a true patriot. Satya realizes that the commissioner (Ahuti Prasad) and the home minister were hand in glove. They some how plan to take Dr Ansari but announce that they killed him in a shoot out. Everyone believe that Ansari is dead. But Satya brings to light the dirty games played by the home minister and court convicts the minister, commissioner and Ranvir. Then Satya announces that Dr Ansari is alive. In the climax, he makes Ranvir and others retaliate against the police and kills them in an encounter, proving that the truth will always prevail.

PLUS:

After a long time, Rajasekhar appeared in a police uniform and it was once again proved that he perfectly suits the role of a commando or police officer. Rajasekhar re-enacted his earlier roles with élan. He appeared a little romantic in a couple of scenes. Sanjana played a nice role as the wife of Rajasekhar. Though, he had only one duet with her, the director chose to introduce some scenes in between the song’s stanzas. She is okay in her role. Neetu Chandra appeared in a mass masala role as a subordinate police officer called Basara Papa. Sheryl Pinto appeared in an item number. Among other artistes, Sivaji tried to play a playboy role in the film. Saikiran, though had a role in the film, failed to impress anyone, while Siva Reddy appeared in a sentiment role. Milind Soman played the mafia don role and is okay as he appeared in such role for the first time for the Telugu audiences. Atul Kulkarni is okay as a patriot who was branded as terrorist. Sayaji Shinde’s performance appeared routine. The speciality of the film is that RTC chairman and senior Congress MLA M Satyanarayana Rao played the role of Chief Minister like Mallemala in Ankusam.

MINUS:

The timing of songs was improper. The director, could not judge the correct timing for the placement of songs. Though the audiences would expect that some of the characters, who took part in the operation along with the hero would die, the killing of Sivaji was in poor taste, while the Siva Reddy episode is worth watching. The film was a direct lift of ’Khakhi’, a superhit Bollywood movie. Though Rajasekhar boasts that he had provided the story, screenplay, it is all nothing but a direct lift from that movie. Choreography of action scenes is good and it would definitely attract the mass audiences. Though the film was aimed at attracting all classes of audiences, it would only get good marks from the mass audiences and might be said an above average movie.

REMARKS

Those who are interested to watch action films, this could be recommended. But those who want entertainment and good family drama with lots of emotions, it is a sure no no film. The film would definitely enthuse the front benchers and would run well in B and C centres. For A centre audiences it has nothing much to offer. It appears that the introductory scene of Rajasekhar was specially added to the film, where he indirectly criticized the Praja Rajyam party and its chief Chiranjeevi.

For More Movie Reviews visit www.vebtoday.com

Siddim Movie Review

                            For More visit www.vebtoday.com

Film: Siddham

Cast: Jagapathi Babu, Sindhu Menon, Kota Sreenivasa Rao, Mukul Dev, Radha Ravi, Narsing Yadav, Subbaraju, Siva Prasad, Amit, Dil Ramesh etc

Costumes: Saidulu

Make Up: Muktavarapu Ranga

Stills: Raju

Editing: Bhanooday

Photography: Baharni K Dharani

Music: Amar Mohile

Producer: Kiran Kumar Koneru

Screenplay-Direction: JD Chekravarthy

Released On: 12th Feb 2009

vebtoday Rating: 3/5

Story

siddham Daya (Jagapati Babu) is a sincere cop and an encounter specialist. He handles his job professionally and does not hold anything personal. Salim (Kota Prasad) is his assistant who is greedy about increasing the encounters count so that he could get more publicity from the media. The city commissioner (Kota) is retired and a new commissioner takes the charge. The new commissioner has his own agenda and he discourages Daya from performing his duty in fair manner. The rest of the story is all about how Daya takes law into his hands and cleans up the mafia gang in his own indomitable style.

Artists Performance

siddhamJagapati Babu: Though this character is donned by Nana Patekar in Hindi, Jagapati Babu made sure that he interprets the character well enough to give it his own shape with subtle yet strong body language. You will see a new Jagapati Babu in this film and these kinds of characters give actors immense job satisfaction.

siddhamOthers: Kota Prasad (son of Kota Sreenivasa Rao) did a fine role in this film and he has it in him to become a fine actor if he chooses the roles well. His work in this film is very good. Sindhu Menon is adequate as the housewife. Kota Srinivasa Rao is perfect as a retired commissioner who supports hero. It is a different role for Narsing Yadav. The guy who did the role of Akhil is competent. Subbaraju did a small yet significant role. Mukul Dev did the role of Dubai based mafia don.

Technical departments

siddhamStory - screenplay - direction: This film is a remake of Hindi film ’Ab Tak Chappan’. Hence the story and screenplay is adapted from the original. Most of shot compositions are also similar. But it is very difficult to create a soul in such a serious film without any commercial padding. As a director JD Chakri succeeded in narrating the film in an interesting way. He created a constant tone to the film and did not miss it throughout the film. Though he handled the film efficiently, we could see the tempo of the film going down for 15 minutes before the climax and 15 minutes before the interval. He did not show the scene of hero being captured by cops in a proper way towards climax.

siddhamOther departments: Background music is nice and it is mostly taken from the tracks of Ab Tak Chappan background music. Cinematography by Bharani K Dharan is good. However, the director has used some footage from Ab Tak Chappan film for Mumbai dock episode. Dialogues of the film are realistic. But you need to carefully follow the dialogues because the there is no cinematic dramatization in the modulation and delivery of dialogues. Like in Hindi mafia flicks, this film too has many curse words. Editing is adequate. Producer Kiran should be appreciated for making such a serious film sans any commercial elements.

Analysis:

Siddham is a remake of Hindi film Ab Tak Chappan. The commercial elements in this film are subtle. It is like the story of Ankusam film told in a much realistic way. If Ankusam film had intense histrionics and compelling cinematic drama, Siddham film has subtlety and finesse to it. These kinds of films were never made in Telugu. Hence the common movie lovers of AP are not used to such kind of films. It is a decent effort by JD Chakravarthy and Jagapati Babu to make a film like Siddham. We have to wait and see how the regular movie lovers take this film.

For More visit www.vebtoday.com

Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam Movie Review

                 More Reviews : www.vebtoday.com

Film: Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam
Banner: Laxmi Narasimha Productions
Cast: Siddartha, Tamanna, Praash Raj,. She comes to Hyderabad for her further studies and stays at her uncle Gachibowli Diwakar (Brahmanandam) house, her cousin has a group of friends and one among them is the happy and playful Siddharth (Siddharth). He is a big Casanova for girls and though he always has a smile on his face, there is a sad past as his mother Rajyalakshmi (Ramya) is living separately from his father Prakash (Prakashraj). Apparently both of them have a love marriage too. Eventually, both Siddhu and Geeta fall in love and the time comes for Siddhu to ask Geeta’s hand in marriage. Subramanyam says that if Siddhu can unite his parents and get them together, he is willing for the proposal. From then on starts the efforts and trials of both Siddhu and Geetha to get Prakash and Rajyalakshmi together. Whether they are successful or not and will Siddhu be in a position to marry Geeta or not forms the rest of the story.
Artistes and technicians Siddharth has come up with his regular performance and he has been good at few scenes but a strong influence of ’Bommarillu’ performance can be seen in this one too.

Tamannah looks gorgeous but then her acting needs to be more flexible. Make up for her was bad. Prakashraj came up with his effective performance while Ramya was quite subdued. Brahmanandam did his bit to contribute but more than him, it was Venu Madhav who scored more on the comedy track. The others did not have much to say and contributed in their own way. The director has come up with a regular plot and though the presentation was good, the film was lacking depth in its narration. The dialogues were alright, the script was written neatly but it did not have content, screenplay was breezy, full marks to the music, background score, cinematography department as they did very well on their front. Editing was quite haphazard, costumes were trendy and other departments were minimal.

Highlights * Songs * Technical values * Siddharth and Tamannah Drawbacks
lack of depthmissing emotional contentcontinuity

First half and second half While the first half passes off peacefully with the share of laughs and the eventual romance, it is the second half that takes a slow turn into seriousness and melodrama. Overall, the pace was moderate.

Report The film had a very decent idea of building up the importance of family and the need for love more than anything else but then since the subject is related to emotional issues, it was expected to hold the nerves at few points and before the audience could feel it, the next scene came in. There were a few instances where a tinge of ’Bommarillu’ was felt. The film could have been a lot better had the makers focused on bringing in more gravity than melodrama at emotional scenes.
